Brandy Melville top, Acne Studios jeans, Schutz sandals
This is my first year going to Coachella Weekend 1, and I was so not prepared for it. I usually choose to go weekend 2 because it typically falls on my birthday, April 20th (yess.. roll on the 4/20 jokes). However, this year I decided I want to spend a quiet 26th birthday with family and friends instead of partying in the desert (so it’s best to do the partying the week before haha).
Shuttle Ride
I started off the trip horribly sick, so I knew I was going to have some trouble getting through the weekend. We got there super late Day 1 because we drove there in the morning and decided to use our Shuttle passes. If you haven’t been on the Coachella shuttle, it’s a complete nightmare! You can tell they tried to be organized, but failed. We had to wait in line to get on the shuttle, sit in our 1-hr car ride (if you’re staying in Palm Springs), and not to mention the line to get back on the bus after the venue in the freezing cold with barely any clothes on… yes, nightmare to say the least. So here’s a little tip for people going weekend 2 or future Coachella babes, avoid the shuttle unless you plan on getting real fucked up from morning to night or stay somewhere closer. We ended up wasting the other two days of our shuttle passes.

Forever21 dress, H&M combat boots, Longchamp backpack
Food
Coachella is like a huge food truck festival in little vendors. They really increased their food selections this year with all the new vegan options and ice cream! The line will always be horrible, but they usually go by fast. Like I mentioned, I was sick and I didn’t have any appetite for real food except for liquids and watermelon, but I’m super disappointed I didn’t get the crab fries this year. It is seriously AHMAZING!

Forever21 swim top, Nightcap pants, Steve Madden boots, thrift store accessories
Fashion
Coachella is becoming more of a fashion weekend every year. Festival goers spend a lot of time planning out their outfits and all the details (me included) just for the weekend. This year though, I had no outfits planned and not even an idea of what I wanted to wear. I tried to shop in advance, but I honestly didn’t find anything good at any retail stores. I ended up finding most of my outfits at Forever21. They had such a variety of selections that I chose three different outfits with different esthetics for each day all with a piece from Forever21. A lot of times it’s also digging out what you already have in your closet. I have had these laced pants from Nightcap for years, and I found a swim top from Forever21 to go with it. Also, I found that the best place to look for unique jewelries are from thrift stores or costume stores. Bigger is definitely better, and I found these huge rustic necklace and bracelet from my local thrift shop!
Performances
Coachella is always a great time to watch all the headliners in one place, but it’s also great to discover new smaller bands too. I would come back from Coachella listening to all the new artists every time. However, this year though… Beyoncé killed!! As you can see from every social posts, Beyoncé set a new standard for Coachella. Coachella 2018 is now known as #Beychella. My childhood dreams, Destiny’s Child, also performed… I seriously cried a little bit.
Coachella is always a great experience, but an expensive one as well. It’s a mixture of music, food, fashion, and an escape from reality. I went with just my best friend this year instead of a big group, and it was literally so much easier! We didn’t have to worry about other people’s schedules or trying to meet up in the middle of the no service chella zone. I met up with a few friends there, but it was great not having to worry about losing people or not having a ride home.
Let me know if you have any Coachella questions or tell me about your Coachella experience! 🙂
