It’s a new year, and I’m starting to reconsider everything in my life and putting energy into things that make me happy and are important to me. Blogging is one of them. Blogging has been a long journey for me. My friends and family ask me all the time why I still blog while working multiple jobs and trying to enjoy life. I started my blog as a college project that soon became a collection of different hobbies– writing, photography, website design, etc. These are all things important in my field of study. It also comes with all the fun things I may not always do on the norm, like taking professional pictures and pretending like I’m a model (:
This hasn’t been an easy journey, if I must be honest. It does get discouraging and sometimes I wonder why I keep going. Then I remind myself that I’m not doing this for the money or popularity, but because it’s fun and it keeps me creative and inspired. For bloggers who have been successful and do this as their full-time job, I look up to them for motivation, because this will certainly be a dream job. But I know their success comes with hard work and commitment. So it’s okay if I never “succeed” in my blogging career because I know there’s so much more out there for me than just blogging.
What I have gotten out of blogging has been so invaluable. I made a close friend that is now my photographer, and our photo sessions consist of hanging out and trying new cute places. I try to push my creativity and I find myself being more productive with an outlet I can express it on. Whatever your passion is, don’t give up! Don’t let other people’s measure of success stop you from doing what you love, and always remind yourself of why you’re doing it in the first place!
